The Science Program to Inspire Creativity and Excellence (SPICE) in young adults is hosted at the University of Oregon and designed to show young adults that science can be fun and can be for girls. The program is all about engaging science activities that inspire kids to learn, test experiments, and create Rube Goldberg machines.
As a volunteer for SPICE during my undergraduate studies, I mentored a summer group through various activities including an egg drop competition, and designing their Rube Goldberg machine. During the regular school year, I taught the Scientific Method at local elementary schools, and mentored students through their science fair projects.
